The Ubuntu Centre, which opened in September last year, won the prestigious Fulton Award in the categories of Overall Building Project, and Concrete in Architecture.
The Fulton Awards began as a tribute to the late Dr Sandy Fulton for his outstanding contribution to the understanding of concrete, its development, and improvement. Sandy Fulton was unquestionably one of the doyens of the international concrete industry with impressive achievements in research contained in 35 published papers. He left a legacy of scientific and technological advances in the construction industry. The Fulton Awards continue as a celebration of the life and achievements of this remarkable South African. Given by the Concrete Society of Southern Africa, the awards celebrate outstanding buildings that continue this legacy of achievement and contribution.
“The Ubuntu Education Centre is a valuable resource that will provide additional facilities to strengthen social upliftment to the community and is a worthy recipient of the Fulton Award“
