Kol Emeth Synagogue Center

Palo Alto, California

Over the Past fifty years, Kol Emeth has evolved into a powerful and dynamic voice in the Jewish community. Its existing site in the heart of Silicon Valley is to be transformed into a living environment that reflects Kol Emeth’s unique identity.

The juxtaposition of tradition and change sets up the narrative for the new environment. Taking a long view of time, the design enshrines in the architecture that moment in history when the Jews became a people.

The new Sanctuary, Courtyard and Social Hall/Gathering Space are designed to the same proportions as the Tabernacle. Twelve great pillars support the Canopy, a reference to the twelve tribes of Israel, the tallit and the wedding chuppah. This uplifting space that combines both indoor and outdoor embraces the entire community and becomes its very soul.
