BODEGA BAUER

Mendoza, Argentina

Linking the way in which wine grapes grow in the region to the way in which architecture grows out of a specific topography, this project is deeply embodied in terms of site, material, the subtleties of sun and wind, the climate, and the unexpected nuances of each season. We extended an ancient system of waterways, producing a central channel that connects the house to its winery, and that collects the water for irrigation from the building’s rooftops. Visitors experience a sensuous journey that connects them to the primal elements—sun, wind, soil, and water—and invites them to experience an architecture that accentuates the bold, bright spirit of Mendoza.
